Old Fashioned Art of Puppetry Not Lost in Los Angeles
You may have never heard the name Bob Baker, but there’s a good chance you know his work.
Baker was a puppeteer through the most of the 20th Century, his work has appeared in TV shows and movies like Bewitched, Star Trek, G.I. Blues, Bedknobs and Broomsticks and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
Baker’s memory is carried on by the cast of the Bob Baker Marionette Theater (BBMT) in Los Angeles. Established in 1963, the BBMT is an historic cultural landmark in LA and recently attained non-profit status. The theater passes down Baker’s work to new generations by educating, celebrating and rejuvenating the art of puppetry.
