2017 Vancouver Pride Parade’s Grand Marshal Speaks on Being Trans at 14
Tru Wilson – one of this year’s Vancouver Pride Parade Grand Marshals – shares her story of coming out as transgender at a young age.
Wilson was named one of Vancouver’s 50 most powerful and influential people by Vancouver Magazine after she and her family took a stance on accepting trans individuals at her Catholic school in Ladner.
The Wilson’s stance pushed the Catholic School Board to become one of the first in North America to develop a policy supporting gender expression in 2014.
Wilson continues to fight for gender advocacy and to share her story so that she can educate and inspire others and show support for members of society who feel excluded – for any reason.
Vancouver’s Pride Parade is Sunday Aug. 6 at 12:00 pm in the West End.
